My Daughter Wish!!
I would like to share my daughter’s story with Breast Cancer. In 2002, Renee was diagnosed with breast cancer. What a shock since she was only 32 years of age. She went through a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Her cancer was in remission.
Ten months later Renee had noticed how difficult it was to catch her breath. She was told her right lung had collapsed. What an awful shock that was to hear. She was admitted to the hospital for a chest tube. After one week in the hospital and nine quarts of fluid later her chest tube was removed and chemotherapy was started all over again. This was when she found out that her cancer had not only spread to her lung but to her bones.
By the end of 2004 Renee’s right lung collapsed again and she had to go through another chest tube along with chemotherapy, and radiation treatments for the bone cancer that was on her spine. This was when her oncologist said, Renee will be on chemotherapy for the rest of her life. (She was only 33 years old at the time)
My daughter is 38 years old and has had approximately 330 chemotherapy treatments along with 50 radiation treatments. Her breast cancer is treatable but NOT curable. This means Terminal Cancer.
When Renee found out her diagnosed was terminal breast cancer she wanted to travel to all 50 states in the US before she died. Since then her health has gotten worse and it has prevented her from reaching her goal. So, now all she is asking for is a baseball cap from all 50 states in the US.
Since I know there is a Make a Wish Foundation for children with Terminal Illnesses, I did not know if there was the same type of foundation for adults. I would give anything to see my daughters wish come true. If you can help her it would be appreciated. If you can not help her, could you please forward her wish to those who may be able to help. God has blessed my daughter with the Strenght & the will to keep fighting and never give up. Renee has always said: "that God did not give me cancer but God allowed me to have cancer to test my Faith and Love for God. And if it was not for my cancer my Faith in God would not be this strong. God is the one person I can call upon 24/7 and he is always there and he has never let me down."
Thank you for taking the time to read my daughter’s story and May God Bless You All.
Sincerely, Janice Shaw (Renee’s Mother)
